COLUMBUS, May 9, 2020 – Chinese Americans from Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Cleveland areas and over 100 cities in all 50 states is launching the “Chinese American Food of Love Day” event on May 10 to celebrate the Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month and provide free food to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ohio Chinese American Association (OCAA) is collaborating with United Chinese Americans (UCA) and other Asian American community organizations nationally to organize two weeks of food sharing and giving back to show support to fellow Americans.
May 10th marks the 151st Anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad that more than 15,000 Chinese American workers helped build in the 1860s. On May 9th, a national online kickoff takes place including prominent Chinese American leaders including U.S. Rep. Judy Chu, U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu, former U.S. Sec. of Commerce Gary Locke, and former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang.
